Who do you want to be in conflict?

We provide managers and employers with effective conflict management skills that identify the root causes of conflict and show you how to achieve positive and productive outcomes.

Workplace conflict is inevitable but the way we manage it needn’t be. When provoked, we react defensively and lose perspective. We can be unaware of our own reaction and especially of our impact on others. This only serves to prolong and escalate the conflict. 

Our responses are behaviours, not who we are. Because of their spontaneous nature, they are rarely effective. Conflict is best handled when we learn to be self-aware, decide who we want to be in conflict and choose responses that are constructive and when we are mindful of our impact on others.

This course gives learners the skills they need to carry out effective mediation in order to resolve disputes. It is not only relevant ot those who to become a qualified mediator but is of great benefit to anyone who manages people or situations and as such may require dispute resolution skills. Managers – whether that be HR or department heads, for example, recruiters, Gardai, armed forces, and those in the prison service are all examples of individuals who would come up against dispute on a regular basis. As such, having the skills to effectively mediate in a professional and impartial manner would be of great benefit..

MTI Certified Workplace Mediator and Trainer (CMT) in Conflict Resolution: Virtual Programme- January 2024

Virtual Certified Workplace Mediator and Trainer (CMT)  is a Mediation Training Institute (MTI) programme. In January 2024 it will be delivered by Mary Lou O’Kennedy (OAK) who is a Principal Trainer with MTI. This live online training teaches managers the practical tools they need to both resolve day-to-day workplace conflict as well as train others . These strategies include the Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP), how to have Successful Conflict Conversations (SCC) and Third Party Resolution (TPR). On successful completion of the programme, participants are also eligible for certification with the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
